Counseling

Counseling services are provided for adults through the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Acquired Brain Injury Long Term Care (ABI LTC) Waivers and help individuals with an acquired brain injury to help resolve personal issues or interpersonal problems resulting from the individual’s ABI. Counseling services can serve as an adjunct to Behavior Programming and can assist family members with the following:

  • Implementation of an individual’s approved plan of care
  • Substance abuse or chemical dependency treatment (if needed)
  • Building and maintaining healthy relationships
  • Developing the social and coping skills needed to adjust to injury
  • Instruction on how to spread awareness and increase knowledge of the effects of an ABI
